Register for the Sarah Garcia #a5K and kick cancer in the face

Sarah GarciaWe at #Anywhere5K are human *gasp*, and unfortunately, like humans we suffer human illnesses. It is difficult at times to figure out why diseases, like breast cancer, happen. Even so, where there is darkness so the light therein is that much brighter.

A good friend of ours is in the process of battling said disease and we would like to honor her with next month’s #a5K race. Her name is Sarah Garcia and she is a wife, a mother and a teacher; also, she is awesome.

To show our appreciation, #Anywhere5K would like to dedicate our June 9 & 10, 2012 virtual road race to Sarah and all those we love who are battling cancer. There’s no cost to you. Just sign up and run.

Event: Sarah Garcia #Anywhere5K
Date: 6/9/2012 & 6/10/2012
Time: Anytime
Location: Anywhere
Distance: 5K
Entry fee: $0

To register complete and submit the ENTRY FORM and then tell everyone on Twitter and Facebook that you’re running.

Come race day we will post a similar FINISHER FORM for you to complete with instructions how to do so. We’ll then tally the results and post them the day after the race (because we want to give folks in Hawaii an opportunity to run) on the results page.

As an added bonus, we’re giving away 2 #Anywhere5K T-Shirts at the end of this race. All you have to do is register, finish, and share a photo of you with your #Anywhere5K bib.

All of us have a variety of reasons why we run: companionship, fitness, masochism. This week though, let’s run for Sarah and for all those we love who are battling cancer. Let’s run anywhere and everywhere with reckless abandon and kick cancer directly in its metaphorical face!

BTW, if you’d like to make a donation in honor of Sarah visit caringbridge.org
