In my years of trail running, cycling and hiking, I’ve come to appreciate gear that isn’t bulky or bouncy. If you’re like me, when you’re carrying something on your back or around your waist, you want a low profile design that conforms to your body and doesn’t flop around. Ideally, the contents inside the thing you’ve got strapped to your body won’t bounce either. The container should conform to the gear it’s carrying. And in my quest to find the perfect stretchy, conforming, non-floppy, non-dorky piece of carrying equipment, I’ve found that the Amphipod Microstretch Belt™ is perfect for carrying essentials during exercise.
The Run For Boston #Anywhere5K is Tuesday, April 23 to Tuesday, April 30. Yep, one whole week to show your support for those impacted by the Boston Marathon tragedy.
In addition to running the free virtual race, we have a couple of other ways you can get involved. You can purchase a Run For Boston #Anywhere5K shirt, and you can add a “Run For Boston” Twibbon to your Facebook or Twitter avatar.
This weekend we challenged you to run a collective 1,200 miles over the course of two days. On Saturday, we accumulated a whopping 780 miles! The following day, we added 755 miles. By the end of the weekend 177 people ran a grand total of 1,535 miles.
In the process many runners set personal records (PR), completed a 5K, 10K, half, full, or even ultra race for the first time or as a veteran. Families ran together, dogs ran with their bipeds, some walked the walk, others braved the treadmill. What unfolded was nothing short of amazing.
Each time we host a challenge we are continually impressed with the dedication you have, not to the challenge, but to one another. We came together as an #Anywhere5K community and we all reached our goal together!
Unlike our #Anywhere5K races, this event has NO registration. To participate in the challenge and be eligible for the giveaways, just us on Facebook and run any distance be it in a race, as part of your training, or just for fun, on Saturday, Feb. 16 and Sunday, Feb. 17. When you get back, post your time and distance on our Facebook page, and watch the miles add up to 1-2-0-0. Don’t worry, we’ll be keeping track of everyone who runs.
Come Monday, Feb. 18,
if WHEN we collectively run 1,200 miles, we’ll choose a random winner for an #Anywhere5K hooded sweatshirt and others for Road ID gift cards. And to make things extra awesome, if we reach 1,500 miles we’ll be giving away a GU Energy Labs variety pack of gels!
In 2012 we rocked the 1,000 Mile Challenge. To kick off 2013 we’re going to up the challenge by 2 centuries. And with your help, we’re going to destroy our new goal.
On Feb. 16 & 11, 2012 we’re hosting another 1,200-mile running challenge over on our Facebook page.
