June 22, 2013
You and your friends are invited to join us on June 22-23, 2013 for the Xero Shoes Barefoot #Anywhere5K. The race is open to all runners, so if you’re more comfortable running in shoes then by all means, go for it. But this race is our little nod to those of you who fully embrace the barefoot running lifestyle. Whether you run barefoot in an ode to your ancestors or for health and medical reasons, we salute you!
This month, our Xeros Barefoot #Anywhere5K race is sponsored by the makers of Xero Shoes (aka “Xeros”). That’s good news for you because Xeros Shoes is offering a custom-made pair of Xeros to one lucky participant.
So what are Xero Shoes?
In a nutshell, they are a unique take on your average barefoot huraches running sandal. They’re lightweight, affordable and backed by a 5,000 mile warranty. Xeros, and their creator, All-American Masters sprinter Steven Sashen, have been featured on ABC’s Shark Tank. Sashen is the guy behind the hilarious “Sh*t Barefoot Runners Say” video on YouTube.

For the past two years we’ve held one virtual #Anywhere5K road race a month for nearly all types of runners. Yes, in our quest to encourage runners everywhere to “run your own race,” there’s one group of runners that we’ve, well, neglected. These are folks that prefer hoofing-it over hills as opposed to pounding pavement. Yes, we’re talking about trail runners, and they’re long overdue an #Anywhere5K race of their own.
This July, we’re committed to including all of our nature-loving runners as we present the Happy Trails #Anywhere5K. On July 27 & 28, 2013, experienced trail runners and novices alike are encouraged to take the road less traveled by hitting their favorite trail for 3.1 miles of off-road awesomeness. After you’ve dodged trees, jumped roots, and become one with nature, submit your time by filling out the race’s finisher form.
Consider yourself a city slicker? Aren’t sure where to find the nearest trail? No worries. Most websites for local park boards will list any trails located in the park system, and the folks over at American Trails have put together this handy resource guide for locating state-by-state trails.
Register
To register, just complete and submit the entry form. Come race day, download and print your #Anywhere5K bib, run your race, and submit your time using the finisher form. All that’s left to do is spread the word on Twitter and Facebook.
